ripp off

At ca.100$ a month way overpriced.
Service is increasingly unreliable .Outages and slow downs are frequent. The last serious slow down (Can't even access e-mail) is now in it's 3rd.day. We are rural here. Closest neighbors are on Telus or Explore net.
Telus (BC Telephone Company) way cheaper, a lot more usage and way less trouble. Not too many complaints about Explore net either.Contacting Galaxy costumer service is a joke. Their aim is to get you off the phone as fast as possible. Some personnel can't even speak correct English which makes it easier to get rid of a complainant.Got some legal advice and was told to just dump them, since they don't keep their end of the deal up by not providing adequate service.
Costumer Service( Female with poor English) said the technicians had gone home at 5pm and will look at the problem next day ! ! ! Some service , eh !
I seriously recommend staying far away from this outfit,if you are looking for an ISP.
There are many around that offer a lot better and way more reliable service for way less $.

I TOTALLY REGRET EVEN HEARING ABOUT THIS COMPANY!!

I live in an area where satellite internet is my only option and explornet is full. I was looking for an alternate company and found galaxy.
Lets start with the sales rep. He is a LIAR!! The only thing he did effectively was charge my credit card!! I asked over and over again how many gb's a month i could get and was told over and over that we would set it up once it was installed!! The form he sent me had plans that ended in 2015 so once it was installed they had to have an engineer set up a whole new plan for me!! I have no clue why that would be? Than i find out all i can get is 500 mbs per day!! Than they tell me about the tokens 10 minutes after it was hooked up and my internet stopped so i called tech support!! I began purchasing tokens as i was told it 5% of my bill which was supposed to be 59.99 a month but they weren't positive because there had been no billing set up for me. This all happened within the first week!! Than i am not able to purchase tokens online because you cant pre-purchase and its pretty hard to purchase tokens online when YOU HAVE NO internet!!!!! Than i find out im only getting 350mbs a day not 500! Keep in mind i had been calling the sales rep throughout this whos response was either "the tech guys don't know what they are doing" or "don't you read what you sign"
Sooooo than i continue on not really knowing whats going on!! 21 days after they have installed the internet they try to take 55.00 out of my bank but it wasn't there so they shut my internet off!! That was Friday! I called them and tech support who were the ones that answered told me that he was emailing billing while i was on the phone and says to me "i just got an answer from billing and they said don't turn your internet back on because of all the problems" ok i wasn't sure what that meant so called back the next day which was Sa ... ay and was told to call and talk to customer care on Monday which is today! Im not sure why they didn't notify me they were taking money out of my account but they turned the internet back on and are taking 55.00 out of my bank on the 30th and than on July 4th another 80 or 90 dollars which is what i was told lmao
whoever reads this can make up their own mind about this company but it seems very poorly managed and communication between departments needs to be better.

The satellite feed is from Hughsnet. During peak times the service becomes nearly unusable. For $110 per month you get 750mb download per day. Even with zero downloading or streaming of music or video, this goes very quickly. We are only using this about one week every other month and it is very painful.

U.S. IP address not Canadian, you will be blocked by CBC.ca, CTV.ca video players and any other Gio Regenal Copt Ritght content. Tech staff just make fun of you when you complain. As well I am paying for SkyWay Pro+ $120/month was promised 250kB/s can never get more then 108 on speedtest.net and they refuse to fix. They insist on using a proprietary tester that is perilously inaccurate. Youtube is under content based throttling. COMPLAINTS TO NUMEROUS TO LIST THEM ALL!

Review from Canadianisp.ca

I had Galaxy Broadband for three years and, for the most part, the service was acceptable. It didn_t, however, give even close to the speeds advertised. The service cost way too much money for the small amount of bandwidth allowed monthly and the Turbo Page was often down for no reason. When you call Tech Support they no longer offer 24 hour service and you had to leave your name and phone number so they could return your call the next day. Meanwhile you had no service during this period. Also, the servers are in the States so if you try to use your credit card online most sites won_t accept it because your card belongs to someone in Canada and your IP address is an American one. I have a new provider so am hoping for the best with them.

Galaxy Broadband has been operating for over two decades now having been founded in 1992. They offer satellite internet services; making them rather unique. The headquarters of Galaxy Broadband Communications Inc. can be found at, 4020A Sladeview Crescent, Unit 4 Mississauga, ON L5L 6B1.

However, there are a few problems with Satellite internet that plague consumers. Bad weather causes frequent breakage in connectivity; furthermore, gamers would have to deal with latency issues if they are connecting to servers halfway across the globe, or even in their own country. However, the upside of satellite internet is that it is available where DSL and Cable can’t reach!

Galaxy Broadband offers its plans only on a contractual basis. The terms are either 2 years or 3 years long. Galaxy Broadband offers a residential plan they call the Skyway Business Elite which has a download speed of 5 Mbps and an upload speed of only 300 kbps. This plan comes with a usage cap of 550 MBs per 24 hours, which amounts to a paltry 16.5 GBs per month. If you opt for this plan with the 36-month term, you’ll be paying a total of $389.99 over the course of three years. If you opt for the 24-month term it would cost $399.99 over the course of two years. The overage penalties are also quite unique to Galaxy Broadband.

If a consumer reaches the limit of his usage, the download speed is greatly reduced. If the consumer wants to gain optimal download speeds again he or she must purchase a restore token. Otherwise, the download speeds will be restored to optimal capabilities the next day.

Furthermore, the cancellation fees that Galaxy Broadband implements are quite high! For the 36-month term plan, users may have to pay up to a whopping $550 dollars to cancel the service. For the 24 month term, they would potentially have to pay up $450 dollars. Both fees are substantially higher than what the service actually costs.

There are many viable alternatives to the expensive plan Galaxy Broadband if offering, for example, if DSL is an option in the area TekSavvy offers a 7 Mbps plan with a usage cap of 150 GB per month for only $27.99. The monthly fee is higher in comparison to Galaxy Broadband, but you get a much higher usage cap and do not have to be hassled with a contractual agreement, or insanely high termination fees.

In all honesty, Galaxy Broadband would be a last resort service for consumers who have no other options except using a satellite internet service. The price is too high for the type of quality of service being offered, especially when considering the usage cap. Downloading an HD movie would take a user well over the usage cap that Galaxy Broadband has implemented.
