Storm Internet has been around for close to two decades now having been founded way back in 1996. Storm internet headquarters can be found at 1760 Courtwood Crescent, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, K2C 2B5.
Storm internet is a service provider that is proactive when it comes to community involvement. They support cultural programs and fundraising events across Ottawa. Their involvement is present in many prominent events such as the Ottawa Bluesfest, H.O.P.E Volleyball tournament, Ottawa Fringe Festival and the AIDS walk Ottawa. It is rare to find internet service providers that are as involved with communities; this offers insight into how well they set their standards for customer service!
Let us now review Storm internets basic DSL plan. The basic DSL plan Storm internet provides comes with a download speed of 6 Mbps and an upload speed of 800 kbps. These speeds are consistent with many other basic plans provided by other various providers. The plan comes with a monthly cap of only 2 GB. The plan costs a total of $27.00 a month. In case you missed it, the basic 6 Mbps DSL plan of Storm internet comes with a usage cap of only 2 GB! The average Youtube user can stream up to 2 GB’s of videos in a day! The price is also mind-boggling considering virtually nothing is being offered. If you compare this plan with the basic 6 Mbps plan of Distributel internet that offers an unlimited usage per month for the cost of only $40 per month! Having said that, Storm also has the very same plan but with Unlimited usage at $39 per month, which seems much more realistic.
Not only the 2 GB limit is basically non-existent, based on today's standards, the overage charge Storm internet implements are $1.00 per GB! The majority of internet service providers that have a limited cap on their internet plans offer an overage charge of between $0.25 to $0.50 per GB! Yet Storm internet decides to charge $1.00 whilst only offering a limit of 2 GBs in the first place.
The Dry-loop fee is the only thing we found which is consistent with other internet service providers. The fee is between $5.00 to $20.00 per month and has a onetime setup fee of $19.95. The dry loop is required for customers who do not have a Bell phone line.
All in all Storm internet has it completely wrong with the Basic 2 GB plan, the unlimited version of the plan is the way to go.
Storm also offers what they call Premium High-Speed Internet. Plans with download speeds going from 10 Mbps up to 50 Mbps. The uploads going from 1 Mbps to 10 Mbps. Pricing from $44.00 monthly to $61.00 monthly. All plans coming with a healthy unlimited data usage.

Stay away...Head my warning! After dealing with Bell for many years and putting up with lies of 5m internet speeds , i joined Storm. Same B&^%l-Sh%t....Average speed around 2200 to 2900 kbs until you complain, then they " ... p it up again" (because they can!!) and after telling you to unplug your modem and telling you they see no issues at their end!
I do regular speed tests and send them results by screen shots" they simply disagree and tell you to unplug the modem and replug it.
These companies are a joke and should be mandated to charge only what they can supply. they also should be paying all the people who are misinformed for many years of half the service for the full price.
lastly, there are techs there that are simply F@#@ing arrogant and try to "trump" you with tech sayings and make you feel like its not a problem at there end. ... ty customer service.
Bite me storm!
ps. I have very little options when it comes to service providers because Bell owns everything in my small community
Bite me Bell!
