Terrible InternetThis is the worst internet I have ever experienced in my life. I pay for their best internet which says I should get 10mb/s download speed and the best I have ever gotten in 2 and most of the time it is less than 1. My internet has completely gone out at least 3 days a week for the past 8 years I have had Rural Lynx. I have to stay with them because it is the only provider in my area. I have had staff from their company come to my house at least 10 times and every single time they tell me that I have to either "upgrade my tower" or "upgrade my plan". I have gotten every single tower upgrade they offer and have the best plan and nothing has changed. Then they tell me its my router. I bought a $200 router and tested it at my friends house and it works perfectly, I take it home and the internet is still awful. I have gotten every repair, every upgrade, paid so much money, and yet my internet will still go out multiple times a day when their is not a cloud in the sky. This company is scamming people into paying for things they don't need and then throttling their internet. Overall, terrible company, terrible staff, terrible quality. 0/10.

They want you to pay for their mistakesI was given one invoice at the beginning of my service for one price. They just contacted me and said they made a mistake and I have to pay over $200. They said it is their mistake but I have to pay for it. After a lot of back and forth I offered to pay half to be nice to a local business but they said nope you have to pay for all of our mistake. Do not use them. They are incompetent and rude.

I take it you did not intend to give them a 5 star review. I will heed your warnings, never the less.

Rural Lynx is, as the name implies a Rural Ontario Internet High-Speed provider. Rural Lynx tagline is "Get Rural Internet that Works!" and certainly we applaud the initiative. Rural Lynx is said to serve over 30 communities in South Eastern Ontario. With Head Office in Headlock, Ontario.
Rural Lynx has four home internet plans, which we detail below.
- Basic: 5 Mbps Download, 1 Mbps Upload at $53 per month
- Standard: 10 Mbps Download, 1 Mbps Upload at $73 per month
- Premium: 15 Mbps Download, 2 Mbps Upload at $93 per month
- Enthusiast: 20 Mbps Download, 2 Mbps Upload at $123 per month
Rural Lynx claims to never throttle and is always unlimited. Though there is no specification if there is a survey fee or an install fee? Let's be frank here, we cannot expect Rural providers to be doing everything for free. Maybe the survey cost is embedded in the monthly cost? Hard to know, a little more clarification upfront helps the decision making.
With just fewer customers than the urban counterparts, we understand is a small and region target specific provider. Nonetheless, it is a standard to provide all the information.
All GoneVoIP can say is that RuralLynx looks very promising, but have to get better at providing all the information upfront.
Again we love to see the effort of independent service providers connecting Rural Canada but have to be better at detailing their efforts.
For example, what is the technology being used? Satellite? LTE? 5G? Hard to tell and hard to believe is a service that works through the weather with such an absence of details.
