Will rip you OFFGemstelecom representatives will say just about anything to get you to sign up with them, and neglect to tell you important information that would have been helpful to know at the beginning! They will tell you that you only have to pay your first payment down and then only pay again on the 20th of next month.. But this is not the case! Apparently this is a per-paid service and you have to pay for your next moth the month before.. so you need to have 2 payments up front! they take your first payment and then a few days later advice you that you now have to pay for the next month!
If I knew this I am 100% sure I would have said, thank you, and hung up to check the next provider on my list.. As it is now I am stuck with this horrible company that lies to you from the beginning!!
I do not advice you to join this company.. There are loads better out there, so the best advice I can give you is the choose wisely and stay clear from this company!!

GemsTelecom is a Canadian Independent Service Provider with Head Office in Mount Royal, QC. Gemstelecom is a division of Cronomagic Canada established in 1993.
GemsTelecom offer internet and phones plan services coupled with the best technical support in the industry. Services include high-speed internet and VoIP for residential and business customers.
Gems Telecom provide free High-Speed Cable Internet installation; free WIFI without any hidden charges. GemsTelecom Home Phone has a somewhat flexible and customizable internet plan offered at market reasonable prices. The home phone services all include advanced features such as:
- Caller ID,
- Call waiting,
- Call forwarding and
- 3 Way-Conference
All of these commonly premium features are included at no extra charge. Easily and conveniently choose from local calling, Canada wide or Canada and US unlimited phone plans, keep your phone number and keep your own ATA equipment.
The specialization is on providing High-Speed internet services, as Gems Telecom is the residential part of Cronomagic, which focuses on enterprise and that traces roots back to 1993.
GemsTelecom also offers businesses and even home-based businesses, phone systems; on-site phone systems or hosted phone systems from virtual extensions to well over 500 extensions, multi-site locations, off-site employees we have a solution that fits your needs. Maintain a local presence using local virtual numbers services allowing businesses to develop a sense of closeness to their respective customers, regardless of where they are located.
In Gonevoip GemsTelecom Home Phone review, we found the service to have listed some of the basic VoIP features, such as Caller-ID, call forwarding and voicemail. It also has support to configure a SIP client, while lacking a smartphone app it means you could find a Sip client in the App Store and configure it yourself.
As it always happens with ISPs offering VoIP Home Phone GemsTelecom is a bit more costly for the Canada/USA plan than other providers we have seen. GemsTelecom also has fees for preparation and delivery, something the industry is seldom using these days.
GemsTelecom Home Phone does support number portability though that will set you back $29.99 and also the ATA rental is a fee $3.99.
The international long distance calling rates, when compared to the usual Long Distance providers such as Bell or Rogers, are good. Though if looking at Gonevoip International Long Distance providers the rates offered by GemsTelecom Home Phone may be sometimes 2x as expensive. So in summary, if you are considering GemsTelecom for your Home Phone, there may be better and certainly cheaper alternatives out there. GemsTelecom missed the opportunity by having a $19.99/month Canada/US plan, for example, VoIP Much at $9.75/month for the same type of plan, It begs the question which one should you chose and why pay more for the same? Having said that, the move to VoIP/Digital Home Phone technology is definitively in the right direction.
