Review from Canadianisp.caSo far service has been 99.9% reliable. Had one intermittent disconnection issue where the demarc cable was the cause and fixed promptly. Other issues were usually caused by the larger ISP so can_t blame Montreal-DSL.As some of the reviews mentioned, they are actually Teksavvy. They let you know when you call to hook up with them though, but it would be nice if they officially acknowledged it on all their media (including canadianisp/dslreports) in order to avoid possible feeling of confusion and deception. You would be surprised how I felt like backing out as soon as I heard that from the clerk on the phone. Had I learned of this when window shopping on their website it would not be an issue. So ultimately no real complaint, the experience has been positive and I look forward to continue using their service. |

Focus Telecom (formerly known as Montreal DSL) is a relatively new internet service provider having been founded in 2013. They offer a variety of services ranging from web hosting, internet service to VoIP services. Their headquarters can be found at 3484 Boulevard des Sources, suite 218 Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec, Canada, H9B 1Z9.
Focus Telecom has a long list of internet packages they offer, and they boast about having prices that cannot be beaten. Competitive pricing is tough to find these days considering the few internet service providers that have monopolized internet services across Canada. Let us now review one of Focus Telecom’s basic plans!
Focus Telecom offers a plan they call the High-Speed DSL 5 which offers up to 5 Mbps download speeds and 800k upload speeds. This plan has a cap of 200 GB and off-peak hours of 2 am to 8 am unlimited which is quite generous considering what other service providers have to offer. This plan comes with a price tag of $40.95 per month. Furthermore, Focus Telecom makes it clear that only downloading will be counted against the bandwidth limit, which means that general surfing of the web which also requires a fair amount of bandwidth will not be tallied against the monthly limit.
Focus Telecom implements a very minute overage charge of $0.25 per GB with a limit of $25 dollars of overage charge per month. The standard dry loop fees of $5.00 per month apply to those customers who do not have an active phone line. One of the best incentives any service provider can offer to its customers is an unlimited usage time and Focus comes up big with that as well!
All in all, GoneVoIP observes in Focus Telecom residential Internet a well-rounded set of services by the provider. Ironic, but the better speeds are with Cable Internet and not with DSL. With that said Focus Telecom encompasses great pricing with unlimited or a large enough usage cap with an unlimited usage time-band. Not many service providers can beat the pricing and limits that Focus Telecom has to offer, and if you are looking for quality internet without hurting your budget, Focus Telecom is the way to go.
