AnnoyedI understand Cogeco has to do maintenance, but some advanced warning is expected when they KNOW service will be going down. They do it with Hydro, they do it with water. If internet is a basic right, then why is it not required for them as well. I won't even get into the other issues with this provider: you can see those for yourself in other reviews. World class? Hardly.

Cogeco ServiceThe worst possible customer service I have ever dealt with. I waited 5 days for a tech to come out to fix my problem of no TV service. The tech finally showed up at 5:30 pm on a Sunday, changed a splitter and before he left it wad down again. I managed to get him back and he put rubber ends on the splitter and left. It worked for about an hour and went down. The next tech came on Wed. amd changed another splitter and left - it worked for 5 hours. The next tech came on Thurs and put an amplifier on the line with an unsightly white cord running around my deck to an electrical outlet -it is working 90 % of the time but still goes down. We will be changing to Bell Fibe as soon as possible.

Terrible customer service, poor techAtrocious to deal with. Horrible to contact. Useless, banal information provided by un-caring, helpless tech support. Sending letters of complaint via their published complaint process, which guarantees a response, results in no response. Lol. There are two new isp's trenching on our street now. I'll be disconnected from cogeco asap. After about 10-12 years of being treated like a captive customer, I'm finally free!!!

OMG. I am SO with you on this. EVERY WORD you typed above. Well spotted indeed! They are THE WORST EVER. I haven't phoned them in TWO years after going head to head with management back then over endless ongoing issues which took over 11 months of back and forth and, too many hours to even tally and a new computer expense to resolve. They blamed everything on APPLE for months and we actually thought something was wrong w/ our computer and spent over 2k for a new set up finally. Sold the other one and come to find out nothing was wrong with it. What was WRONG was Cogeco's untrained, unaware, customer service / tech support and management. For over a year I couldnt figure out why over 100 resumes Id sent out didnt so much as get a response. Went through logistics and settings a million times. They assured me it was either Apple or no one was emailing. Months later I find out that one of my main emails had a glitch which prevented incoming mail using that specific address. It's always Apples fault according to them when clearly it was their issue. THey HID stuff from the public, didn't come clean about issues going on complex server clashes and I believe fiber optics, that went south but they kept charging customers top dollar. SO here I am 2 years later and I phone today for ONE simple reason. TO take down an old, useless, messed up corrupt EMail account. I get service that is HORRENDOUS with reps who can barely understand my english and I have to explain TO THEM what their screen options mean? On top of that they messed up my account worse than when I first picked up the phone. AND, accepted a PIN that was not even legit ( but somehow worked ? ) AND created a second account ( when i explained I already had one ) by telling me it was just for that moment to be able to get into a portal. They dont KNOW a thing about what they are doing. I specifically asked them if there were any changes or updates to discuss after all its been 2 years. since I last called them (Oh no, they tell me, everything is FINE.) and they attempt to connect me to billing . I sit for 25+ minutes with no one picking up. So I look at my online invoice and Im being charged 70.00 more this month due to loyalty program being up. No one could mention that when I asked ? I NEVER thought Id find any company as diabolical and bad as Bell turned out over the years ( and Id been a loyal customer for 17 years with them) but COGECO has easily moved into their spot. I could NOT believe that they even considered this real customer SERVICE and have managed to WORSEN in the past 2 years.. God help anyone that actually needs service or has dire / expedient issues. Thing is, they don't even remotely CARE.

Cogeco has revamped the plans to appeal to hungry data users. Avoid the Modem Rental Trap
Many of us have struggled with this item at the time we are shopping for internet service: the modem. The idea of a non-technical person making a determination. The typical mindset has always been around, rent along with the service provider. Now internet providers are also including 'whole home internet' or Managed Wi-Fi services, providing the modem and Wi-Fi router. All at added expenses.
However that bundling, while making it easier in appearance make no mistake is a cash-grab by the
