I have a 100 Mbs plan And I love it.
No trouble at all.
If you can Don't rent the router at$5.00 per onth, itwill be paid the first year and it's a really good one.
Service is Perfect, if you have trouble, they are really fast and Friendly, you can Trust this company and the price areso Good.

Feeling disappointed Disappointed Rating 👎

Poor connection

CityWide's internet is cheap, but inconsistent. The connection is either weak, or drops out completely, and resetting the modem does no good. Haven't had any problems myself with customer service, but I heard bad things through others. I use the Internet for my work, which is why I will be cancelling my service with CityWide. It's just too unreliable and I can't waste my time waiting for my Internet to come back so I can do my job. Very disappointing.

Outstanding Service

I live in the Dartmouth area and I have been using citywide internet for about 6 years.
I did have to upgrade my modem last year and an outside wire repaired after another contractor damaged it.
All in all, they have given me incredible service and great technical support when I was doing some home network upgrades.
Staff are very friendly and did I mention?
They are actually local, with local tech support.
I test it every couple of weeks and on wifi it ALWAYS exceeds what I am paying for.

CityWide Communications is a Halifax based internet service provider was founded in 1997, giving them over two decades worth of experience.  They range in providing multiple services, such as TV packages and long distance phone plans. CityWide Communications states that customer satisfaction in their service is the core of their business. Based in Nova Scotia, they also provide their home internet services to the other following maritime provinces: PEI, New Brunswick and, Newfoundland and Labrador.

The following plans are for their high speed internet.

  • 100 mbps down, 10 mbps up for $54.95/month
  • 150 mbps down, 10 mbps for $64.95/month
  • 300 mbps down, 10 mbps for $74.95/month

An activation fee of $39.95 is required or the other opportunity is a free activation if you are transferring from another cable internet provider. The plus points are that these plans have no caps/limits, no overage fees, and no contracts. An optional choice of purchasing a Wi-Fi router for $59.95 is also stated. On the website, they have specifically listed the compatible hardware under each plan for more details. One bonus is that CityWide has a referral program where you can earn $25 in credit.

There are two DSL High speed internet plan that was posted on their website.

  • 7 mbps down, 640 kbps up for $51.95/month (DryLoop)
  • 7 mbps down, 640 kbps up for $41.95/month (sans DryLoop!)

The plus points of no caps/limits, no overage fees, no contracts, and a referral program is available to this internet package as well. The added cost of the Dry Loop DSL Activation fee is $99.95. The DSL Wi-Fi modem would also be $39.95 for purchase if you choose to do so.

Even though CityWide does state customer satisfaction is very important to them, the internet service provider has not racked up more good than bad reviews about their service because of their poorer quality. Some complain that it constantly disconnects and there have also been reviews on billing problems.

The Cable internet plan is a good choice if you are looking for a decent price. Their DSL option does seem a bit on the pricey range but is unlimited. It all comes down to the details that you think you would need and if CityWide will provide it.

You've suggested TekSavvy as a better alternative. I just checked them out. They don't have home phone in NS and they charge $42 vs. $28 you suggest. Maybe you have old information?

I am looking for the fair use policy on the site. Cannot for the life of me find it. They have stated that I'm unable to "work from home" as per their fair use policy, refused to email me the copy and the manager was very difficult person to deal with. If you could point me to the fair use policy I'd be grateful. Thank you.
