Review from Canadianisp.cahorrible service, constant throttling. NO customer service and when you get them they blame Bell. Watch out for their plans that try to get you to sign up but have a 1GB bandwidth limit so that they can bill you hundreds of dollars in overage (check redflagdeals.ca for these complaints). |

Review from Canadianisp.caI have been an AEI customer for 10 years. I remember they had horrible tech support back when I originally go hooked up and took a month to resolve issues. I recently requested a free update to a new higher speed package that included a free dryloop. What a nightmare! They left me without internet service for two weeks to switch from a dry loop to a wet loop (same physical line). I have problems and they made several schedule appointments (between 1pm-9pm) where the technician never showed. They were not interested in my complaint and hung-up when I tried to cancel the service. These people are horrible and my issues are still not resolved. |

Review from Canadianisp.caSwitched to AEI from Ebox. What a difference! After having to deal with horrendous service due to rainfall of random problems on Ebox, using same equipment with AEI and in all the years never actually had to call AEI. Never spoke with anyone at AEI since service was connected. Just don_t need any support - everything simply works. I am an IT pro with 25+ years of experience and this is exactly what I need: no distraction and no irritants. |

Review from Canadianisp.caBeen with AEI for several years now. Had some initial connection problems, but they were pretty minor, and no worse than my previous provider, Rogers cable. I can_t remember the last time I had an issue. Its been very reliable for at least the last two years. I am now using it for VoIP.ms telephone in place of Bell. |

AEI Internet is a telecommunications provider with HQ in Montreal, Quebec. They provide DSL and FTTN internet, along with more recently adding residential telephone services, web hosting, and co-locations.
AEI has a variety of plans available for high-speed DSL internet service. The prices range from $26.95 to $44.95 per month.
GoneVoIP's favorite plan is called PLAN HS and offers unlimited ADSL usage at 6 Mbps speeds. The price checks in at $26.95 per month. There also is a $25 activation fee. Once you make your first payment, there is a 5-business day waiting period. The monthly payment can only be paid by credit card. There are no maximum usage parameters detailed in the terms and conditions, so this may be one of the few companies actually offering unlimited usage and unlimited bandwidth.
We are big fans of the price point for AEI’s PLAN HS, which at $26.95 is a very value-based offer. It is $6 more expensive than some of Canada’s most inexpensive top internet providers, like TekSavvy but the activation fee is also more expensive. Furthermore, they have a bunch of additional modem costs.
If you don’t own a modem, they have numerous options available which range in price from $75-$100. There is also a shipping charge for the modem or you can pick it up at their downtown Montreal location.
AEI can also be leased (to own). They also sell routers and modem filters which they say are required for each connected telephone in the house in certain cases). The filters are $7.50 on their own.
AEI also has an FTTN unlimited usage plan at $39.95 per month with speeds of up to 15.0 Mbps and a $100 activation fee. Based on the significant speed increase with this plan, we are impressed with the manageable monthly price which is comparable to other plans which have up to 15 Mbps. In addition, AEI offers dial-up access for $4.95 per month.
Overall, AEI has fairly reasonable home internet prices. Which as of today standards are still slightly more expensive than some of the more inexpensive providers. But, also a lot cheaper than many other companies. But their additional numerous charges for modems, setup fees and their overall lack of chat or 24-7 support deter us from giving a full recommendation.
