AEBC is terrible

Stay Away
-Terrible Customer Service
- Promised internet speeds of 30mb/s but was less than half
- Internet would need to be rebooted once every few days as it would stop working
- Their business is literally run in a ba ... t
- You get what you pay for with AEBC and Buyer Beware it is not worth it.

Review from Canadianisp.ca

Nothing short of fantastic. I signed up with AEBC one year ago and things have been running great. Bye bye ... py contracts and rising rates. Very happy with a decent, flat rate with no extra fees or anything.
The modem arrived by mail just fine after a few weeks. I plugged it in and let them know it was ready. It turned on almost immediately and I had internet. Super simple. I have not had to call tech support once.
With the cable package I received I did have to supply my own wifi router, but that was no issue. They are cheap and plentiful.

Review from Canadianisp.ca

Totally thrilled with my new AEBC setup and it couldn_t have gone smoother.

Finally dumped Telus and planned the switch to AEBC at the end of the Telus billing period. I signed up for the 30Mb cable package, paying 3 months in advance. They did the billing and charged to my VISA card the same day I talked with the salesman on the phone. I also setup for billing to my card, so it_s all going to be automatic. I did that with Telus without any trouble.

AEBC sent me the modem by Canada Post (cheaper shipping option) and it arrived as expected. I already had my own wireless router to add to the mix.

The Shaw guy arrived at the arranged time and fixed the cable outlets to reverse the changes Telus made and we plugged in the modem. It worked, so he took off. Then I added my wireless box and that works great. I_m getting 35Mb download speed on ethernet and at least 30Mb on the wireless.

Price on this is $40/month and they say it_s a 2 year price guarantee, so I_m hoping that sticks.
As part of the package, I didn_t have to pay for the modem, installation or any other setup fees, so I estimate that saved me a couple hundred dollars.
It_s a solid connection from what I_ve seen so far so, no complaints from me.

AEBC internet has been around for over two decades now having been founded back in 1991. Their headquarters can be found at 970 Burrard St. Floor B Vancouver, British Columbia V6Z 2R4 Canada. AEBC attributes its success and growth in providing quality customer support, economical pricing, and advanced technology.

AEBC provides Cable and fiber internet and a VoIP service to its customers. They are also a licensed carrier with the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC). AEBC also provides e-commerce clients with software support and the usage of advanced administration on a global basis. However, our key focus is to review the most economical residential internet plan that AEBC has to offer.

Presently AEBC has several prominent Home Internet plans available, which GoneVoIP will review:

Cable Internet

  • Cable Internet 25: 25 Mbps Download, 2.5 Mbps Upload at $34.95 per month
  • Cable Internet 75: 75 Mbps Download, 7.5 Mbps Upload at $46.95 per month
  • Cable Internet 150:  150 Mbps Download, 15 Mbps Upload at $64.95 per month
  • Cable Internet 300: 300 Mbps Download, 15 Mbps Upload at $74.95 per month
  • Cable Internet 750:  750 Mbps Download, 20 Mbps Upload at $94.95 per month

All Cable internet plans are with unlimited internet bandwidth usage, include Free modem rental and have no setup or activation fees.

Fiber to the Condo

Fiber is only available in the AEBC served buildings. There is only one plan of up to 100 Mbps, no mention if it is symmetrical speeds (meaning the same download and upload speeds). What AEBC does mentions is that there are no installation charges, unlimited internet utilization, and no contracts.

Upon reviewing the terms and conditions policy of AEBC we noticed that sudden termination of service can be done if AEBC decides that a specific user is consuming too much bandwidth. The limit, however, is not specified within this agreement. The fact of the matter is that AEBC’s unlimited package is actually not truly unlimited.

The website did not provide any extra charges such as dry loop fees, or installation fees, or whether or not there is an added service fee. Furthermore, no mention of additional static IP’s was made, and whether or not the user would be provided with anti-spam and virus protection.

It can be said without a doubt that the pricing on AEBC’s Cable Internet 300 Mbps plan is really good; however, there are other options that may be as or even more viable. Furthermore, there is a need for AEBC to be upfront and straightforward with any additional pricing that it may charge the customer, which it fails to mention on numerous levels.
