True Speed is a telecommunications provider with a focus on both residential and business phone VoIP services as well as Internet options. The company’s motto is “Let’s Get Connected”.

True Speed has headquarters in Brockville, Ontario, Canada.

For this review, GoneVoip will look at True Speed’s Home Phone service and see how it stacks up with GoneVoip’s top residential VoIP providers in Canada.

True Speed advertises premium home phone service with unlimited calling throughout Canada starting at $14.95 per month. However, the promotion states that this price is only available when bundled with the Internet. Yet on Facebook we see this product advertised at this price with no mention of the bundling option. How can you trust if there is deception in the air?

It is only through Facebook that we also find out about an additional Residential VoIP option for unlimited Canada/US calling at $19.95 per month – advertised again with no mention of the bundling option.

Features included with this plan include the ability to keep your old phone number, no call limits, call waiting, three-way calling, call name display, call number display, voicemail, voicemail-to-email, call forwarding, call history (online), cell phone mate, and a web interface for phone management.

According to the terms of service, all phone services are available on one-year contracts. Another interesting tidbit found in the terms and conditions is that True Speed is simply a marketing company and does not provide actual telecom services.

Unlimited calling in True Speed’s terms of service is defined as 2500 minutes per month or less. In addition, there is a call length stipulation of a maximum length of call at 4 hours before disconnection can occur without warning. All minutes after this mark will be billed on a per-minute basis.

In our review of True Speed’s Home Phone, we came away very disappointed in their unclear pricing, with the website advertising a price which is stated to only be available with bundling their other services while their Facebook page advertising the same price as a stand-alone cost with or without bundling Internet. It is never a good sign when the website does not clearly state the costs for the services and even worse when the social media for the company has different pricing information than the little bit the website has.

The lack of the information on the website, not just for basic pricing, but for additional factors such as equipment rentals and/or fees, and lack of information on contracts and other legal terms makes us very concerned. We, therefore, cannot recommend True Speed for Home Phone services with such unclear pricing terminology and lack of general information.

Any of GoneVoip’s top Home Phone providers is certainly a better option than True Speed!
