Targo is a small ISP based in Montreal, Quebec. As with many Canadian ISPs, Targo has an offer for a VoIP Home Phone, though in the case of Targo as taken the expression of expensive to a whole new level. In our Targo Home Phone review, we found it to be one of the most expensive VoIP Home Phone that we have seen to date. There is a reasonable offer for the first 3-months but then the price jumps up.
As many usually happen with ISPs providing telecommunications, a Home Phone is part of their services but it isn't their core. Thus the offer is less than ideal. We can't really comment much as there aren't a lot of details published. Other than unlimited Canada & USA call, we see some of the usual VoIP Home Phone features, such as Caller ID, Voicemail and Call Forwarding. Though for the price monthly, we would expect a lot more. Additionally is not clear if there is a fee for activation and if Number porting is supported.
A rather surprising fact to note you cannot sign-on online. But rather have to leave your details for a call-back. A throwback sales tactics from the 90s to up-sell services. Also delaying the overall process of customer acquisition. Just bizarre to see it in this time an age.
There are many more Home Phone providers, just look at Gonevoip's Top Home Phone list. Find which one is ideal for you. Sure to find cheaper and with more features and better overall service.
