TamcoTec is a relatively new internet service provider in Canada and not much is known about them or their history. Their headquarters can be found at 6021 Yonge Street,Suite: 412,Toronto, Ontario,M2M-3W2.
The plans that TamcoTec offers are well laid out in terms of specifications of various types of customers. They offer a variety of services, ranging from DSL internet, Cable internet, and VoIP solutions. Their website is concise and to the point, however to our dismay there was no terms and conditions policy available. Several attempts were made to gain access to TamcoTec’s terms and conditions policy, but it is only provided to customers who are ready to opt into their service.
Let us now review TamcoTec’s basic DSL plan. TamcoTec offers a DSL plan that has a download speed of up to 6 mbps and an upload speed of up to 800 kbps. This plan has a usage cap of 100 GBs per month which we believe is quite generous. The plan totals out to $38.00 per month which we consider to be overpriced. Yak offers a DSL plan that has the same download and upload speeds of up to 6 mbps and 1 mbps respectively and has a usage limit of 60 GBs which they offer at only $29.99 per month. The difference of over $10.00 is not justifiable by TamcoTec.
The overage charges implemented by TamcoTec are $0.75 per GB, which is slightly higher than the average of between $0.25 to $0.50 per GB. Now these charges would be perfectly acceptable if there was an unlimited usage time on offer by TamcoTec. However a thorough review of their rather small website showed us that there is no unlimited usage time to be offered.
Furthermore there is a dry loop fee of $10.00 per month for customers who do not have an active land line. The dry loop has an initial installation cost of $25.00. If a customer wants to change plans while sticking to TamcoTec service, they would have to pay an extra $25.00 on their next bill. The only upside to additional charges that we noticed was that there is no initial setup fee for this plan.
TamcoTec offers a plan that has a lot of potential; however the price tag on this plan is what essentially kills it. Many other internet service providers offer the same and more at cheaper prices then TamcoTec. There is also a lack of key features such as unlimited usage, and the overage charges need to be toned down!
