totally NOT worth the stressDON'T waste your time with this company - this installation process has taken 3 weeks and i still have no internet - everything is connected and ready to go but the company has no idea why it doesn't work. i have had to call on a daily basis to see whats going on and can never get a straight answer. Except when they want us to pay a bill for a service that we DON'T have. The installers left cable and garbage on my living room floor and just left. They do not care about getting the issue resolved, and will not send someone to fix issue until i book another appointment (which takes at least a week) VERY poor customer service,VERY poor experience! I will be mentioning this experience to everyone i know or talk to about START communications - bull ... after bull ... on a daily basis - AVOID START COMMUNICATIONS! They should be called STOP communications. They do not care about their "customers".

Good but badNothing overly bad with start for the most part speeds are good and stuff but one thing that is far..... From right is there pricing for their packages for internet. It's 2016 and they are still pricey for a 3rd party ips and in till they wake up and and change their pricing just like other 3rd ISP they get 1start from me.

5 Star All the way!I've been with them 4 years and never had an outage. Speed delivered is consistent and as advertised. I've only had to call customer support 3x and on each call, it was answered very quickly and professionally. I had cable Internet with the incumbent for over 10 years but NEVER received service even CLOSE to what Start has delivered. This company cares about their customers. They are 5 Star All the way!
Note: The basic package noted here by gonevoip is out-of-date. As of Feb/16, the basic package for Ontario is now: 15Mbps down, 2Mbps up, 200G bandwidth/mo - $40/mo and an unlimited bandwidth option for an additional $15/mo. They still deliver FREE bandwidth to all customers from 2am-8am.

Start has been around for a while now having been founded back in 2005. With a decade of experience, this telecommunications provider certainly knows its way around the business. Their headquarters can be found at 383 Richmond Street Suite 1200 London, ON N6A 3C4 Canada. An impressive thing to note about Start is that is BBB accredited with an A rating, and have received a meager 6 complaints in the past 3 years.
Start has certainly built a large infrastructure in the past ten years that is now providing service globally. It is rather commendable to find that they offer a multitude of services for VoIP, domains, dial-up, and internet connections.
Start communications basic ADSL plan comes with a download speed of 15 Mbps and an upload of 1 Mbps. This plan has a usage cap of 300 GB per month and a customer can gain unlimited bandwidth usage by paying an extra $10 per month. This plan without the unlimited addon costs a total of $40.00 per month. This seems to be a rather greedy price considering other service providers charge much less. For example, Zid internet offers the same exact plan with a cap of 300 GB for only $27.95. The difference may seem minuscule but it certainly adds up over the course of a few years. The overage charged by Start communications is $0.25 per GB to a maximum of $25 while Zid’s overage charge is half that price. With a simple numbers comparison, we can easily deduce that Start communications is a bit expensive.
Start communications do well to offer an unlimited usage time frame between 2 am and 8 am every day. This time however in comparison to other service providers is somewhat diminutive. For example, ElectronicBox offers unlimited hours from 22 pm to 2pm, which is double the amount of hours that Start communication allows. Nonetheless, the mere fact that this incentive was included is a great plus point for Start!
Upon reading the unlimited use policy of Start communications we came across something very peculiar. Due to traffic congestion or other reasons, customer’s bandwidth limitations may be altered to better accommodate the entirety of the people on the network. Specific customers with excessive usage would be prime targets in this scenario. However, no mention was made of what range of consumption would warrant such actions from Start communications.
All in all, there are many ups and downs with the Start communications basic DSL plan. The pricing is a little heftier then the norm and the incentive of free usage during specific time marginally makes up for it. Nonetheless, we would consider looking into other service providers who offer all of these things and more at a much more convenient and economical rate.
