AKA Kawartha Cable InternetVery poor customer service. The install was late by about three months from what we were told it would be. The cable set top box was about three weeks late in arriving and they could not tell me when it would get there. One good thing was that they did give us the upgraded (PVR) box at no extra charge for the trouble. Cable internet is very flaky. We disconnected about six times yesterday and the average download speed we are seeing lately is about 5Mbps on a service that is 25Mbps. Billing is very confusing, they had the wrong pricing for the first invoice and then all three services are being billed at different times. The IP phone (better model according to them) only allows for one phone in the entire two level house. On one call we tried with it, the person on the other end could not hear us.

Poor Service, Rude Staff, Unreliable Slow InternetThese people are just unpleasant to deal with. Service is terrible. They make promises that they never keep, and their service is massively oversold. Their speed ratings are grossly exaggerated.
I am sure that if there were a competitor, who had integrity and honesty, they would do well.
Purely a provider of absolutely last resort.

Avoid - Horrible customer serviceWe have had nothing but problems with Ruralwave since we first started with them last fall. It took 3 months to even get consistent internet service, for which we were billed. The installation was so bad that it was non-functional, despite multiple visits by multiple techs to fix it. We ended up fixing it ourselves... (and it finally actually worked). Of course we still had to pay for the instal in full. We were offered a free month, but somehow that didn't include the "radio rental" fee. I've been without internet almost as often as I've had it. Today was the last straw when I called (for the second time) for customer service for the most recent outage, and after waiting 10 minutes and being told that I was "next in line" I was forced onto the answering service so I could leave a message. Now it is 30 minutes later, no one has called me back, and I have no time left to deal with this. Guess I get to go without internet for yet another day or two or three (or a week...). My time is very limited, I need customer service to actually TAKE MY CALLS... Very angry. Ruralwave has also made payments difficult, not giving information about how to pay, not acknowledging payments for several days (if ever), and having a billing email address that is not checked for replies. There is no email offered as a way to discuss billing concerns. Phone reception is also problematic, cutting in and out, even disconnecting me while I was trying to deal with a service call. This is a problem on their end - my phone is fine. Even while on hold the music cuts in and out as their signal fluctuates. There is nothing good I can say about this company. (One exception, there was one customer service rep who went out of her way to help me, which is what finally got me internet. However she is 100% the exception to the rule.)

Terrible service. Customer service is worseRented for one month to ensure it would work. Once installed and working I purchased the equipment and paid for the install ($300) and signed a 2 year contract. Worked fine for a few months then all bad from there. They came out and said I needed more height as my signal was poor. I specifically instructed them to ensure that the signal would be fine before putting more holes in my roof. They moved the dish to a new location on my roof but didn't add any height and it didn't work. They then came back again and said I needed more height. They told me I'd have to pay for the additional equipment and would require more holes in my roof...it got to the point where they offered to cancel my account and I asked them to buy back the equipment. They refused and I have been without Internet for months. I called and said go ahead an cancel the account and they said they would do me a favor and only charge me half of the remaining 12 months as a penalty... if I let them go ahead with the new installation and it doesn't work, they said I can pay them even more money to install an even higher tower. Even when the Internet was working it didn't work well. Customer service is a joke and Ryan is incredibly rude. He told me he has a supervisor "Dan" and I have asked to speak to him for the last 2 weeks. Today Ryan told me he won't let me speak to his manager Dan. When I asked why he said, "because I said no." When I said I am not paying any more money for a service they have failed to provide he replied by saying they will just send my account to collections STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. Complaint to the Commissioner for complaints for telecommunication services to follow

RuralWave is a rural ISP in Eastern Ontario. RuralWave was formerly a computer hardware store in 1995 and over the last 15 years has grown to have over one hundred microwave sites to provide wireless internet access. RuralWave is HQ in Cannington, ON.
As many ISPs, Ruralwave also offers a VoIP Phone service. In our RuralWave review, we found to have most of the typical VoIP Home Phone features, such as voicemail, caller ID and 3-way call conference.
RuralWave's Home Phone also comes packed with 1,000 minutes to anywhere in North America. Though we were not able to check long distance nor the definition of a Fair Policy usage.
The monthly rate is $34.99 a month, and you also have to factor a $99 one time setup fee.
In all RuralWave does offer a distinctive service in areas may not be otherwise available. Having said that, this is very expensive! From a Home Phone service perspective and if other providers are available in the same coverage area you may want to shop around, compare with the top residential providers.
