Novus Entertainment Inc, also known as Novus or Novusnow.ca, is a telecommunications provider based out of Vancouver, Canada.

In our review of Novus, we will take a look at their residential VoIP packages and see how they stack up with Gonevoip’s top VoIP providers of Canada such as Yak and VoIP Much.

Novus offers two basic residential VoIP phone packages. They are the Novus Phone and the Novus Phone Lite.

The Novus Phone starts at $21 per month as a standalone, or $18 a month if bundled with the internet. Included in the plan are North American and International long distance rates starting at 1 cent per minute, unlimited free tech support, no contracts, and free initiation, activation, and installation. You also get to keep your old number.

There are also 12 included features such as unlimited local calling, call display, call waiting, 3-way calling, call forwarding, enhanced voicemail, voicemail-to-email, call blocking, do not disturb, call back, call hold, call return, speed dial, enhanced 911 service, and online account management.

If you don’t need all of those features, the Novus Phone lite is probably the right choice for you. This package starts at $15 per month if standalone or $12 a month if bundled with the internet. There are also no contracts available for this plan and it still has some of the core features such as enhanced 911, call back, call hold, call blocking and unlimited local calling.

Novus also offers added bell whistles such as Canada unlimited calling for an additional $10 per month, Asia unlimited for $7 per month and India unlimited to $10 per month.

In our review of Novus, we see some positives and some negatives with their phone services. First and foremost, Novus focuses on their internet and TV packages, with the phone more of a secondary product.  While there is nothing wrong with that, we always prefer a company that has a focus on VOIP services when choosing a VOIP provider.

Perhaps more concerning of all is Novus Home Phone pricing, which is significantly higher than companies such as VoIP Much or Yak – Gonevoip’s top VoIP providers. A bonus of Novus is they state they have excellent customer service and treat you like an actual person instead of a number, which is always nice. They offer phone, email and live chat support.

We recommend that if you are in the Vancouver area, they are definitely worth checking out and doing a price comparison with some other companies we previously mentioned. If you are looking for internet, TV or bundling of all three, then they could be a decent option, but for residential VoIP, you may be better off shopping around.
