NEWT is the business division of Fibernetics. If you do not know who Fibernetics is, Fibernetics is the brain and operations behind brands such as Fongo, Freephoneline and Worldline. The Head Office is located in South West Ontario, in the picturesque City of Cambridge. Shall be mentioned much of Fibernetics Call Center operations are located in the Dominican Republic.
Going back to the NEWT review, let us continue looking at what is put in display. NEWT provides a plethora of services for businesses. To quickly mention some:
- Business phone
- Business internet
Then some offsprings of either of the above, such as SD-WAN, Contact (Call) Center, HTTPS Fax or Hybrid Cloud.
In this NEWT review we are looking at their Business Phone. We see there are listed some cool business phone features, such as Attendant Console, Enhanced Conference Bridge and Call Groups. In total NEWT marketing reports more than 90 features. Quite a repertoire!
However with the plethora of options presented we are disappointed there are no pre-packaged plans, no pricing up-front. All one can do is to complete a form or chat with one of their sales agents. We tried chatting, and the experience was okay. But you can tell they are pushing handsets - suppose that is where they may be making a difference.
The price they quote us for a theoretical business with 20 employees and Grandstream business phones was $179.95 per month (about $9/month per seat) plus about $10,000 to do the full migration & training from our imaginary existing system to their fully managed hosted PBX.
The per seat pricing may be OKAY - we didn't ask for any features in particular, but assume all 90 are included. Unless some other features such as Online Fax that NEWT charges separatedly. The Professional services fee, while it is a ballpark and probably somewhat negotiable, it is starting from a high point.
In summary, businesses will gain efficiences when moving to a managed PBX. NEWT could be the ideal partner. We were satisfied how NEWT agent addressed our secret shoper questions. Was quite efficient, though to note, we can attest that is true to pretty much every single sales rep. out there (we can count with the fingers of one hand those providers that miss treated a potential customer during a sales chat!). However we do notice professional services and handsets may be some topics to treat carefully when considering NEWT. These may become runaway costs, and that is just what businesses should avoid as it defeats the purposes of cost efficiencies.
