Kwic Reviews and Plans

Kwic has a long history, dating back to 1983! Kwic started as a computer shop, offering services as a software developer and system integrator. Eleven years later they started offering internet dial-up services. Kwic Head Office is located in Simcoe, Ontario.

Kwic offers internet in the form of Dial-up, DSL, and Wireless. Let us begin Kwic internet review, we will now look at the DSL plans. In total Kwic offers six DSL plans.

• DSL 6/0.800:  6 Mbps Down, 0.8 Mbps Upload Unlimited at $39.95 per month
• DSL 15/1: 15 Mbps Down, 1 Mbps Upload, Unlimited @ $44.95/month
• DSL 25/10: 25 Mbps Down, 10 Mbps Upload, Unlimited @ $49.95/month
• DSL 50/10: 50 Mbps, 10 Mbps Upload, Unlimited @ $54.95/month

Here are all the additional fees charges or may charge.

• Dry Loop fee: $5 (for the 6/0.8 plan you'll have to call them up to find the cost)
• Installation is $65 for all plans except for the 6/0.8 plan that is $85
• Shipping fee $10
• Overage Fee for Capped Plans: $0.25 per GB up to a max of $25

Additionally, Kwic does require automatic payment for all accounts, and a $50 prepayment at the time you sign up for Residential High-Speed DSL, which will be applied to your first invoice.

The DSL plans from Kwic come with a good variation of speed and pricing. We do like to see the ISP providing the options, and we are certainly pleased with the work Kwic has done with the plans and the presentation. However, if there is one down part is that the online ordering cannot be done, all has to be done by calling Kwic sales number.

Now let us review Kwic Wireless Internet plans. In total there are four plans.

• Wireless  512: 0.5 Mbps Down, 0.2 Mbps Upload Unlimited @ $39.95/month
• Wireless 1.5: 1.5 Mbps Down, 0.5 Mbps Upload Unlimited @ $49.95/month
• Wireless 2.5: 2.5 Mbps Down, 0.5 Mbps Upload Unlimited @ $69.95/month
• Wireless 3.5: 3.5 Mbps Down, 0.5 Mbps Upload Unlimited @ $89.95/month

The additional fees for wireless internet plans are:

• Installation $129
• All plans considered a one year contract

All wireless internet plans include:

• 3 Email Addresses
• Rental Hardware
• Webmail access
• Spam and virus email protection
• Technical support

The Wireless speeds seem of a generation ago but it does have the benefit of being unlimited usage, so if you cannot find a faster competitor then Kwic will have to do.

Finally, the dial-up plans, which may be surprising for some but connecting via a dial-up modem at 56k is the only way for others. There are four dial-up plans.

• Dial-up Basic: $9.95/month, 10-hours
• Dial-up Lite: $14.95/month, 40-hours
• Dial-up Regular: $19.95/month, 80-hours
• Dial-up Unlimited: $22.95/month, Unlimited

• Technical support

In all, we can say Kwic brings nice options to the consumers. However we would like to see more speed options, maybe add the cable plans as well to the roaster. Also, the fact that no plan can be acquired online is a downside we look forward to Kwic to address pronto.
