Inter.net is a Canadian telecommunications company based in Cambridge, Ontario. Inter.net began as an ISP but has since expanded and now they provide many services including high-speed Internet, digital home phone service, dial-up Internet and long-distance services. Gonevoip.ca will focus on their long-distance service in this section of our reviews of Inter.net. We will examine their long-distance plans and compare their rates versus Gonevoip.ca’s top three long distance providers.

Inter.net offers a flat rate of unlimited calling in Canada of $7.95 per month which is very favorable in comparison with Gonevoip.ca’s top three long-distance providers, of which two of them offer ‘pay as you go’ plans with excellent rates but do not offer a flat unlimited plan. Localphone offers $10 plans to most countries including Canada. Inter.net claims this is the lowest flat rate of unlimited calling in Canada and we have yet to find a cheaper rate. However, Inter.net does not mention the prices for long-distance service outside of Canada. Whether this is by design to hide their rates, or whether they simply do not offer long-distance outside of Canada is unclear.

Features included in this plan include instant activation with it not being necessary to switch phone companies. You are able to use your current cellular or home telephone provider and there should be no surprise bills at the end of the month. Inter.net’s long-distance plan works with both landlines and cell phones.

One benefit of Inter.net’s long-distance plan is that they offer 24/7 customer care, which is always an important feature when evaluating any telecommunications service. Another is that the customer does not need to switch their current phone service, but can just dial an access number to the closest major city in order to use the service.

Some negatives of Inter.net’s long-distance service are the inability to block caller ID when placing a telephone call as well as the need for you to be very careful when placing calls so as not to incur surprise charges. For instance, if calling from a mobile telephone, you must only press ‘Send’ once, because if you accidentally press it twice, you will be charged by both Inter.net and your phone provider. So be careful.

In Gonevoip.ca’s review of Inter.net’s long-distance service, we are very impressed with the company’s unlimited $7.95 monthly long-distance plan throughout Canada and their 24/7 customer service feature; however, we wish there was more clarity on their website about pricing for long-distance outside of Canada or if they even provide calling outside of Canada. But if you are just looking for long-distance calling in Canada, you can’t beat Inter.net’s price.
