enginet is a Canadian Telecommunications provider with Head Office in Georgetown, Ontario. enginet is a subsidiary of CanFibe, whose focus is the business. enginet provides Home Internet, Home Phone, and IPTV.

Let us review enginet Home Phone services. enginet provides two home phone plans.

• Basic Plan @ $14.99 per month
  • Unlimited Local Area calling

• Unlimited North America Plan @ $19.99 per month
  • Unlimited Calling through Canada and the USA

For existing internet customers enginet will waive the $15 Activation fees. enginet can port your existing phone number, though it is not specified if there is an additional fee for this or if it is included.  You can get a VoIP ATA Adapter from enginet at $39.95

The calling features both plans have are the standards we expect to see in today's' Home Phone:

• Caller ID
• Call Waiting
• Voicemail
• Call Return
• Speed Calling
• Call Forward

Though these are only 6 features. enginet's Home Phone pales in comparison to for example Phone Power which has over 30 features and costs only at $7.40 per month for the North America plan. Also, Phone Power provides the adapter for free. We can clearly see enginet is missing the mark here.

The Long Distance rates are marginally better than those of the usual big telecom guys, India same as China calling rates, for example, is at $0.021 per minute. Which is relatively good rate but not as good as $0.014 when using Noblecom for example.

In all, we can conclude enginet's Home Phone is expensive, offers very little for the cost. Simply put there are better options out there, that will provide more features and enhanced services for your money.
