Colosseum has come a long way in the telecommunications world having been founded way back in 1994. They started off an internet service provider in the city of Vaughan and a few surrounding areas. Now they provide internet services to residential and business clients across the Greater Toronto Area. Not only do they provide internet services, they also provide web hosting, SEO consulting, Domain registration, and computer sales and services. The headquarters of Colosseum can be found at Colosseum Online Inc. 8-800 Petrolia Road Toronto, Ontario, M3J 3K4, Canada. Let us now review one of Colosseum’s bread and butter residential internet plan.

Colosseum offers a residential ADSL plan that boasts download speeds of up to 6 Mbps, and upload speeds of up to 1 Mbps. These speeds are consistent with most basic residential internet plans offered by other internet service providers. The bandwidth limit on this plan is unlimited. This plan totals out to $30.95 per month if purchased on a yearly term. On a monthly basis, this plan costs a total of $35.95. Due to the fact, customers are more inclined to opt into plans that do not bind them into lengthy contracts we will consider the pricing of this plan to be $35.95 per month, which in all honesty is a tad too expensive. Distributel offers a 6 Mbps plan with an upload speed of up to Mbpsps which also has an unlimited bandwidth cap for only $29.95 per month.

Customers who do opt into unlimited plans should first be aware of the average consumption of bandwidth of their household. Most users would be surprised to find out that a capped plan with a cheaper price tag would fit their needs much better. In the case of Colosseum, they are using unlimited bandwidth to coax consumers into a yearly term, while also jacking up the price tag. Cancellation fees are judged from case to case with a minimum of $25.  We were happy to see however that there is no mention of bandwidth throttling for users who opt into an unlimited bandwidth plan!

Many internet providers thwart their prices, for example, TekSavvy, Gemstelecom, and Worldline all offer the same if not better services for a cheaper price. Colosseum needs to rework the pricing scheme of their plan to make it more competitive in today’s telecommunications world.
