Chelsea Data Reviews and Plans

Very little is known about ChelseaData and what its roots are. Their website doesn’t provide much information about their conception, or anything else for that matter. They offer a very modest website that isn’t very interactive by any means. Furthermore, they provide a variety of services ranging from web hosting, analog and digital phone services, and dial-up and DSL internet access solutions. The lack of any terms and services link was rather upsetting considering the many services that ChelseaData provides. Our focus, however, will divert to review one of ChelseaData’s residential internet plans.

ChelseaData offers a residential package they call the “lite package” which boasts download speeds of up to 6 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 800 kbps. This plan comes with a cap of 75 GB and costs a total of $26.99. The pricing on this plan is very decent considering that it beats out many current internet service providers. For example, Yak offers a 6 Mbps plan which comes with upload speeds of up to 1 Mbps and has a cap of 60 GB for the price of $29.95. ChelseaData has a larger cap, as well as a lower price. However, this doesn’t mean that ChelseaData’s residential internet plan doesn’t have room for improvement. TekSavvy offers a 7 Mbps plan with 1 Mbps upload speeds coupled with a cap of 150 GB for a price of $27.99. A one-dollar difference with a cap two times larger in favour of TekSavvy. 

Now the much larger problem we noticed with ChelseaData is the utter lack of data being provided on their website. No mention of overage charges, no mention of dry loop charges, and also no mention of whether or not there are activation fees. Furthermore, a comprehensive list of features was also lacking from their website. The only means of contact was through e-mail, and currently, we have received no feedback on their part. 

There are many things that come together to be a “whole” package. In the case of ChelseaData, all we really know is that their pricing is economical. With the way they are currently set up, we find it hard to believe that they offer a high degree of customer services considering you can’t contact them by phone at all. Not only that but the utter lack of any terms and conditions on their website, and list of features, leaves us questioning as to whether the low price is to bait customers into purchasing Chelsea Data services.
