Review from Canadianisp.caWe have been with Ascent Networks Inc for just over a year now. We have thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The packages are hard to beat as they are a GREAT price along with very fast internet. In the few instances where we went without internet for a few days. Darrin was always quick to help us out. We highly recommend ascent networks. |

Ascent Networks (formerly known as BluWest) is an internet service provider which serves Southern Ontario. Their HQ is in Elmira, Ontario. Ascent Networks bills themselves as the leader in the wireless high-speed internet.
Their basic residential package gives you unlimited data usage and bandwidth for $65.95 per month. For that price, you were receiving 20 Mbps symmetrical speeds (20 Mbps Down / 20 Mbps Up). There is a 1-year term and they said no hidden costs. However, it is worth noting that their installation fees of $150 were a bit on the expensive side. Furthermore, there were no terms and conditions to determine things such as usage caps, hidden fees, or any other unexpected surprises.
Ascent Networks (BluWest also had) has three other residential plans with much quicker speeds but at much more expensive prices. For $89.95 per month, you can increase the symmetrical speeds to 30 Mbps. For $109.95, the speeds go up to 50 Mbps!
When we compare their price to Gonevoip’s top three, (on DSL & Cable) ISP providers, it comes in at the same price as Altima and Heronet. However, as mentioned earlier, their $150 installation fee is very much more expensive when compared to the three aforementioned companies which all have setup fees below the $50. Granted that is likely is to do to the specific setup for Wireless service.
No caps and no contracts are always options worth considering. Certainly in Southwest Ontario Ascent Networks bringing the Internet to communities, and certainly, it is good to see coverage.
