Africall Shop is a relative young long-distance calling service provided. Africall was founded back in 2015. They offer an Android and an iOS app to customers who would like to stay connected with relatives and family that live abroad, clearly targeted to those that have relatives in the African Continent. One is lead to believe that the customers of Africall Shop can only make long-distance calls to Africa, however that is untrue; customers of Africall Shop can call anywhere around the globe. After an extensive search, however, we were unable to pinpoint the headquarters of Africall Shop. Regardless of that fact, GoneVoIP will now put Africall Shop against other prominent long-distance providers!
Africall Shop prices are pretty steep if compared to the prices being offered by VoIP providers such as Phone Power. However, our comparison will remain amongst the long-distance providers of Canada. Africall Shop offers a long-distance calling rate of 14.7 cents per minute to Pakistani landlines and mobile phones, while Rebtel, another popular long distance provider offers an international calling rate of only 3.8 cents per minute to Pakistan landlines and mobile phones. Perhaps Pakistan was just the bad country to choose when comparing Africall Shop to Rebtel, so this time we will take China as an example. Africall Shop charges its customers a total of 8 cents per minute to conduct international calls to China. Rebtel, however, charges 0.9 cents per minute to call China!
In terms of the pricing department, Africall Shop doesn’t really stand out at all. Furthermore, the fact that they do not provide support to BlackBerry phones is also a negative aspect of their service. However, it is good that Africall Shop is indefinitely staying away from the calling card business and remains strictly with their app.
Another aspect of the Africall Shop service that requires attention is the SMS pricing! Africall Shop implements quite a high price on international texting as well, such as the 9 cents per text to the United Kingdom. Other prominent long distance providers offer text for a much lower cost.
All in all, GoneVoIP considers Africall Shop doesn’t have much to speak for in terms of pricing for both the texts or long distance rates. A revamp of the pricing scheme needs to be undertaken to better compete with other long-distance providers in Canada. Furthermore, Africall Shop can miss out on potential business considering they aren’t focusing on providing cheaper rates to the diverse ethnicities of Canada.
