Eagle internet services have been around for roughly two decades now having been founded way back in 1995. Eagle internet is available strictly in Northumberland, Ontario where both residential and business internet solutions are provided. Eagle has a variety of services they offer that range from domain hosting, internet access and telephone services. Eagle headquarters can be found at Northumbria House, 26 Chapel Street, Cobourg, ON, K9A 1H9. It is however rather disappointing that Eagle has not invested in expanding its services out of Ontario considering they have had 20 years to do so. Let us now review one of Eagle’s basic starter plans to gain better insight into how Eagle operates.
Eagle offers a basic residential internet service plan which has a download speed of up to 6 mbps, and an upload speed of up to 800 kbps. This plan comes with a usage cap of 60 GBs per month and has a price tag of a whopping $48.00 per month! If we were to compare this plan to other prominent internet service providers who also operate in Ontario we’d find a substantial price discrepancy. For example TekSavvy offers a 7 mbps plan with an upload speed of up to 1 mbps with a usage limit of 150 GBs for only $27.99! For $20.00 less you can get a higher usage cap, and marginally higher download and upload speed!
The most similar plan to Eagle’s residential plan would be Yak’s starter plan for home users. Yak offers a residential plan with download speeds of 6 mbps and upload speeds of 1 mbps, while having a cap of 60 GBS as well. Yak offers this plan for $29.95 per month! Essentially you can get the same deal with Yak as you would with Eagle, but you’d be paying much less!
Eagle overage charges are no joke either; having been set at $2.00 per GB! This rate is substantially higher than most service providers. Yak’s overage charge per GB is set at $0.50 per GB, and TekSavvy’s overage charge is $0.25 per GB. Eagle is charging way too much on overage, and doesn’t even offer an unlimited usage time frame for customers.
When looking for an internet service provider a consumer should be well aware of many different options. The plan that Eagle is offering is extremely expensive, and many identical plans are being offered for cheaper prices. Eagle would definitely have to rework the pricing of this plan to make it more competitive.
