Reply to: Carry Telecom
My line with CarryTel was randomly cut off mid-day from Jan 28 through Feb 3. Called in many times to coordinate with support technicians to no avail, they tried re-provisioning my internet multiple times and I picked up a new modem at their suggestion which did not solve the issue. They mentioned that they would need a technician visit but that was originally scheduled nearly a month out Feb 25 (!?!?!) and I called in again multiple times to escalate and ask them to call Rogers directly to communicate the urgency (I work out of my home multiple times a week). Multiple promised follow up calls from them never came or came days late with no added information. I again called in and they said they had scheduled an earlier date of Feb 13 (absolutely unacceptable as essentially a residential utility in this day and age). There are serious issues with their process if something goes wrong as they can't do anything except through email, I literally implored them multiple times to pick up the phone to call Rogers directly (I work in the tech industry so I know how escalations actually work and emails are not it).

The worst part was my line came back on it's own, and I received a call a day later from Support telling me the earliest they could get the Rogers technician in was Feb 13 - so they had 0 idea of the line being back up.

I asked for a detailed explanation of what happened as there are literally no external factors that could have dropped the connection from that first date (no power outage, no construction in neighborhood) and was given the information that my provisioning was randomly dropped and that it's a rare occurrence.

TLDR - service is fine normally, but if it goes out there's not much they can do and they are at the whim of Rogers and you are SOL. Multiple times they promised call backs the same day and me calling in and they never kept to those (most were 2-4 days behind or I had to call back in to chase my own situation). Insanely frustrating, and because of their service issues I have to pay data overages from my own LTE plan out of pocket because they are not taking responsibility for that.
