Smart Telecom is a relatively young Telecom Provider with Head Offices in Toronto, Ontario. Smart Telecom was established in 2009 as a VoIP (voice over IP) Home Phone and long-distance provider. Though three years later, in 2012, Smart Telecom decided to jump in internet services.

Now let us go through Smart Telecom Internet review. It shall be noted that the service is provided as Fiber (FTTN) - making Smart Telecom a reseller of Bell services. When we looked at the Smart Telecom website and contacted them, we could not find Cable Internet. Though looks like it could be supported in the future.

Now GoneVoIP will go through the Smart Telecom Internet plans, we'll review the main details. Smart Telecom has five internet plans in total. With moderate to low speeds based on today's standards; from 7 Mbps down up to 50 Mbps down.

• Fiber 50: 50 Mbps Download, 10 Mbps Upload at $49.99 per month
• Cable 75: 75 Mbps Download, 10 Mbps Upload at $49.99 per month
• Cable 150: 150 Mbps Download, 15 Mbps Upload at $59.99 per month
• Cable 300: 300 Mbps Download, 20 Mbps Upload at $79.99 per month

All of Smart Telecom internet plans come with unlimited usage. There is an Activation Fee of $49 and it comes with a Free Wi-Fi Modem included. If you'd like to buy one modem, more advanced we suppose, it is $99. You can pick up up the equipment at their Toronto office, or pay $10 and have Smart Telecom ship your internet modem. Unfortunately, Smart Telecom has no option of bringing your own modem.

The interesting part is when you go to order the internet plans the only internet plan Smart Telecom seems to be accepted at this point is Fiber 50. While Smart Telecom shows on their website 5 plans, the only one you could order is their most expensive one!

The internet plans offered by Smart Telecom may be an alternative to Bell though speeds, and pricing, are lagging behind the competition. For example, you can get 75 Mbps to download with Altima Telecom or Heronet, at the same price as Smart Telecom Fiber 50! Also not having Cable Internet limits options to potential customers. The Activation Fee is not the most outrageous we've seen out there. Though in fairness could be eliminated along with the shipping fee, this way will make the plans appear more attractive to potential customers. Smart Telecom Internet cannot compete with the higher speeds found in the market when compared to other internet providers.

In a final note of GoneVoIP Smart Telecom Internet plans review, we find plans that are a bit dust dated. Speeds are slower in comparison and need an overhaul.
