Worst provider ever

I've been with comwave for several months and nothing but disappointment. Worst service ever. TV freeze a lot. Internet disconnect during all day etc...
Comwave it's a partnership of Bell Canada. Comwave resells the service to us. Bell Canada send the bill to comwave and they adjust the bill with their logo.
It ... es me off that Bell doesn't watch this resellers. The least Bell can do it's to inform the customers that this companies work in their behalf.

So far, so good

Switched to Comwave a few weeks ago as my previous provider was inching me up over $200 a month.

The switch over went as expected with no issues. There is just one billing issue I am working out with them at the moment but so far everything is looking good.

I have been a comwave bundle subscriber for a year and a half. My bill was to be $89.95 a month. That's never happened. I had PVR services which would always freeze on playback. Finally sort of fixed a year into my 3 yr contract. From the beginning my tv service always had freezing issues and several attempts at fixing the issue. Never fixed. This is a point form list of what I've experienced.
1. I have records that since April of this year I have made over 60 phone calls to tech support
2. It seems to me that I have spoken to the same tech person several times but they never have the same name as before.
3. They rent the lines from Roger's and blame them for poor service.
4. Roger's has been here twice and found no issues from their end.
5. The list could go on and on.

I told tech support today that I was thinking of going to distribute. They really begged me not to switch but to keep their internet and buy an Android box. Hahaha. I'm so done.

I did order Internet service from Comwave and was told that cancellation is free withing 30 days. Sales person hid the fact that setup fee is not refundable. Found out three days later cancelling the service and was charged $135. This kind of business is not acceptable.

The most difficult company to deal with

Comwave us a difficult company to deal with. I have been a customer for over 4 years. I am attempting to cancel the internet and home phone service as the home it is in is sold and closing September 27, 2019. You are always switched from one person to another. After some time on hold and having made my request to two different representatives all I was able to do was have them note the details of my request on file. I was told that I would still have to call back on the date of the house close (like I won't be busy enough that day) to obtain a confirmation number. Who does this? Certainly not any utility company or Roger's or Bell. For the very little savings Comwave offers it would be prudent to stay away from this company.

Comwave is one of Canada’s largest independent communications company, serving over 1,100 cities in Canada and over 1,600 in the United States. Comwave's suite of services is segmented into Consumer, Business Enterprise and Wholesale.

Comwave was fined by the Competition Bureau for over a quarter of a million dollars, this was because Comwave was found it did not disclose properly the fees and limitations of their Internet and Home Phone services. This was an exemplary fine and should serve as a deterrent but based on the reviews GoneVoIP receives the behavior seems to continue.

Comwave High-Speed Internet

Shall be noted that although Comwave markets the plans as unlimited there is "Fair Usage" policy, in where Comwave is monitoring constantly the subscriber's usage and based on triggers the company manages. Regrettably, there is no upfront disclosure of what those triggers are. Though based on those 'triggers' Comwave may elect to suspend, change plans or restrict the internet service.

In a recent meeting with Comwave representatives with GonevoIP Comwave admitted their quality of service could be as good as Bell and/or Rogers networks are in your area. This is because Comwave effectively resells internet service from both. So if you are having a poor experience using the Internet with Bell then chances are you'll experience similar or worse with Comwave. Having said that, the caveat to consider is that Comwave actively monitors their own Internet traffic at all times. Comwave uses what is called Internet Traffic Management Policies (ITMP); what these do is to prioritize traffic based on a set number of rules. In short, when congestion is detected, Comwave's Internet Traffic Management assigns higher priority levels to premium traffic such as time-sensitive internet traffic like Comwave home and business lines, ComwaveTV,  to ensure that these are not affected by the traffic generated from resource-intensive applications like file downloads and/or peer to peer traffic. This may impact your overall experience, hence it could happen that you end up being worse than with Bell or Rogers - contrary to what Comwave's Sales team would like you to think.

With that said, Comwave offers a variety of Unlimited plans starting with the 30 Mbps Download and 2 Mbps upload for $49.95 per month in a 3-year contract. With plans including download speeds of up to 250 Mbps and 20 Mbps upload at $89.95 per month with a 3-years contract.

The Comwave Home Internet plans are unlimited and include a modem/Wi-Fi:

  • 30 Mbps Down, 2 Mbps Up at $49.95 month
  • 75 Mbps Down, 10 Mbps Up at $59.95 month
  • 150 Mbps Down, 15 Mbps Up at $64.95 month
  • 250 Mbps Down, 20 Mbps Up at $89.95 month

The most current Comwave offer is for 3-months of FREE service, implying moving your home phone and a 3-year contract agreement.

All Comwave TV ads sound almost too good to be true. Trouble begins when your Comwave Home internet connection begins acting up and service is degraded or overall below expectations. This may be the result of Comwave's use of Internet Traffic Management Policies. According to Comwave, 98% of their customers are not excessive users, the 2% are and hence these will either experience termination of service or most likely service degradation.

Shall be noticed the overall consumer sentiment towards Comwave. For example here at GoneVoIP and throughout other online platforms, customers' express strong feelings towards Comwave high-speed home internet service; denoting a high frustration with customer support, billing and the internet service. Generally, consumers feel they are not getting their money worth.

In a typical play to trap consumers, Comwave offers to bundle your Internet service with Comwave's Home Phone and elect to receive FREE Home Phone Service when you sign up for a 3-year term. Though that is if you are ready to bundle and commit for 3 years. The Home Phone pricing is embedded into the monthly contract. Though shall be noted Comwave reserves the unilateral right to change, modify, increase, decrease, or add surcharges, connection fees as may be required from time to time.

How doew comwave get into my house? I have no phone line available

Hi Fred, Comwave in spite of much of their marketing campaign are resellers of the big Telco guys, so if your Home has an internet connection from Rogers or Bell then that's how they could get into. The question is then is it worth it?

Considering changing my phone internet and tv service to a new provider. Reading reviews on Comvave find that they are all negative regarding Comwave. Have you done anything do improve your service?

Hello Douglas, From what we see, we can say that over the last few years it has been no change in terms of consumer sentiment towards Comwave. Soon we will have available a new feature that will allow seeing reviews sentiment over time. We have tested it with Comwave and unfortunately, it has not been in the positive side; sadly ever. There is always hope that changes though. But we leave to the public to decide if it is worth it. Thank You and Have a Great Day! The GONEVOIP Team
