Literally the worst company I've ever seen.

A few years ago my dad wanted to open up an account with Comwave. The representative said that they needed a credit card on file and I offered to use mine. The representative assured me that it would not be charged and I was not financially liable for anything, they simply needed this information to process the account.
I just got a notification that I have an account in collections. As a person who is diligent with payments I was scared someone had stolen my identity. Nope, it's Comwave. I called to ask them about it but, of course, they have no record of me having an account! (because I never did). I asked how I can be in collections for an account I never had, and they were not sure. I asked to speak to a supervisor and they said there isn't one. I asked about a complaints line or fraud line, nope none of those.
The collections agency told me that I had verbally co-signed, which is not what the representative said at all. He intentionally mislead me so that he could get the commission for opening the account.
So I had to pay $1156 to a collections agency. I didn't get any indication that a) I was on the account b) that there was an outstanding balance and c) that they were taking it to collections.
Might get a lawyer and try to pull phone records because their staff legit told me I would not be implication in any way. L-i-e-s.
Also, my dad cancelled after one month because it's the worst service ever. They charged and outrageous cancellation fee, that has been growing in interest for 2 years, which is why the balance is so high now. Like why the hell wouldn't they reach out to me before it was almost $1200?

Stay far far away. The lie when you set up, the service is terrible, their customer service representatives don't have answers for anything and apparently there's no such thing as supervisors to talk to so that's cool.

Scam

Supposed to be free for 3 months. How nice they help themselves to a payment 2 months in. The service sucks. And they never said anything about a term. They wont be getting ... fromme when i cancel.

Worst Service

Worst after sales service and impose charges even if they were liable and responsible by their own mistakes. I was imposed 259$ cancellation charges because Come wave was unable to provide me service after charging transfer fee .

Extremely Disappointed

"DON'T EVER GET COMWAVE" Absolutely horrible services, TV, internet are continually cutting in/out all day and night. Brutal, can't ever get in touch with customer service & I use that term very very loosely I don't know what to say other then don't ever ever get Comvave you will certainly regret it.

Comwave is one of Canada’s largest independent communications company, serving over 1,100 cities in Canada and over 1,600 in the United States. Comwave's suite of services is segmented into Consumer, Business Enterprise and Wholesale.

Comwave was fined by the Competition Bureau for over a quarter of a million dollars, this was because Comwave was found it did not disclose properly the fees and limitations of their Internet and Home Phone services. This was an exemplary fine and should serve as a deterrent but based on the reviews GoneVoIP receives the behavior seems to continue.

Comwave High-Speed Internet

Shall be noted that although Comwave markets the plans as unlimited there is "Fair Usage" policy, in where Comwave is monitoring constantly the subscriber's usage and based on triggers the company manages. Regrettably, there is no upfront disclosure of what those triggers are. Though based on those 'triggers' Comwave may elect to suspend, change plans or restrict the internet service.

In a recent meeting with Comwave representatives with GonevoIP Comwave admitted their quality of service could be as good as Bell and/or Rogers networks are in your area. This is because Comwave effectively resells internet service from both. So if you are having a poor experience using the Internet with Bell then chances are you'll experience similar or worse with Comwave. Having said that, the caveat to consider is that Comwave actively monitors their own Internet traffic at all times. Comwave uses what is called Internet Traffic Management Policies (ITMP); what these do is to prioritize traffic based on a set number of rules. In short, when congestion is detected, Comwave's Internet Traffic Management assigns higher priority levels to premium traffic such as time-sensitive internet traffic like Comwave home and business lines, ComwaveTV,  to ensure that these are not affected by the traffic generated from resource-intensive applications like file downloads and/or peer to peer traffic. This may impact your overall experience, hence it could happen that you end up being worse than with Bell or Rogers - contrary to what Comwave's Sales team would like you to think.

With that said, Comwave offers a variety of Unlimited plans starting with the 30 Mbps Download and 2 Mbps upload for $49.95 per month in a 3-year contract. With plans including download speeds of up to 250 Mbps and 20 Mbps upload at $89.95 per month with a 3-years contract.

The Comwave Home Internet plans are unlimited and include a modem/Wi-Fi:

  • 30 Mbps Down, 2 Mbps Up at $49.95 month
  • 75 Mbps Down, 10 Mbps Up at $59.95 month
  • 150 Mbps Down, 15 Mbps Up at $64.95 month
  • 250 Mbps Down, 20 Mbps Up at $89.95 month

The most current Comwave offer is for 3-months of FREE service, implying moving your home phone and a 3-year contract agreement.

All Comwave TV ads sound almost too good to be true. Trouble begins when your Comwave Home internet connection begins acting up and service is degraded or overall below expectations. This may be the result of Comwave's use of Internet Traffic Management Policies. According to Comwave, 98% of their customers are not excessive users, the 2% are and hence these will either experience termination of service or most likely service degradation.

Shall be noticed the overall consumer sentiment towards Comwave. For example here at GoneVoIP and throughout other online platforms, customers' express strong feelings towards Comwave high-speed home internet service; denoting a high frustration with customer support, billing and the internet service. Generally, consumers feel they are not getting their money worth.

In a typical play to trap consumers, Comwave offers to bundle your Internet service with Comwave's Home Phone and elect to receive FREE Home Phone Service when you sign up for a 3-year term. Though that is if you are ready to bundle and commit for 3 years. The Home Phone pricing is embedded into the monthly contract. Though shall be noted Comwave reserves the unilateral right to change, modify, increase, decrease, or add surcharges, connection fees as may be required from time to time.

How doew comwave get into my house? I have no phone line available


Hi Fred, Comwave in spite of much of their marketing campaign are resellers of the big Telco guys, so if your Home has an internet connection from Rogers or Bell then that's how they could get into. The question is then is it worth it?
