After yet another price hike-up for Home Internet of some of the most popular plans in Ontario, we set a mission. We set to research the Best Home Internet Plans in Ontario. We are comparing the traditional telecom giants we typically love to dis-love, with comparable plans from last-mile providers.   We are not making any yellow press-like statements nor using any fancy ISP comparison tool. The fact is, we don’t need one, at GoneVoIP we find the best home internet plans available in Ontario right at our fingertips, as we work with most of the providers.

We did, however, set the bar high in terms of the home internet plans we wanted to compare. Here we are looking at plans we consider the ideal standard. With at least 50 Mbps download and at least 10 Mbps upload. Of course with unlimited internet usage.  Nowadays every household demands unlimited usage, with streaming services like NetFlix, Crave TV or YOUTUBE TV is impossible to stay within a usage cap. Plus consider the plethora of devices we have connected to the internet.

Everything is either connected to the internet, or it will be. From the TV to a speaker, to the thermostat to tablets, to the alarm system, etc. Hence in our search for the best internet plans in Ontario, we focused on unlimited usage plans, as it is a new kind of normal.

We tried to list all fees and make it as simple and transparent as possible, however, it could happen a provider sneaks up a fee we did not list. Also note, Big Telecom players are notorious for luring in customers with time-limited promotions and reserving the right to jack-up prices a few months later.

We listed the Internet Access Technology used (either Fiber or Cable) as a tip for those thinking of switching; it is more cost-effective to keep the same Access Technology. For example, if you are currently with Bell then it is best for you to use plans that say Fiber as you will in all likelihood save install fees. On the other hand, if you are with Rogers; then packages with Cable Technology are likely to avoid your setup or installation fees.

We also noted if a promotional price exists associated with the plan. Looking for the specific duration of the promotion. In our final pricing calculation, we calculated using the FULL pricing, as promotions are in most cases short-lived. We in Ontario, are likely to keep the same Internet provider for years to come so we have to see and consider the pricing in full. It may not be the best a limited 3, 6, or 12 months promo pricing in the long run.

Now you know some of your options. As astonishing as it may sound some people could be saving about $720 a year simply by switching your Ontario ISP (internet provider) for the same or better Home internet service! So with that, in 2021 go and have a happy Home Internet shopping Ontario!
